Roberts as Chief Justice Pick

The president has picked the BEST man for the job. Not only is Roberts one of the most qualified justices ever, he is also someone who will make decisions based on the Constitution which we all know will piss off the Democrats but either way, he is the right man for the job.

Don't Blame Bush for Katrina

This is classic, to think that someone would blame this disaster on the president is insane but leave it to the dems to try and politicize something that has nothing to do with national politics. Their hatred runs so deep they can't even swim in it anymore. Who are these people and what plant did they grow up on because I don't think it was Earth.

Not Getting It... The Left suddenly thinks it’s the minority on campus.

A man by the name of Jason Mattera wrote this article and I think everyone should read it. He is a recent College grad and is one of the most active College Republicans in the country and a very passionate and intelligent guy! It's great to see that someone so young, is writing for something as big as The National Review. Enjoy the great article!

Dean: GOP More Corrupt than Dems

This is a great example of why our education system needs to be re-examined. First of all, this was "a non-partisan event", yeah right, who would invite Howard Dean to an event and ever expect it to not turn partiasan. How ridiculous, that principle should be fired and so should everyone on the committee that voted to have him to come speak. Also, the tax dollars that where spent to bring him there should be refunded to the parents who believe that bring someone like Dean to your childrens school it ridiculous and completly out of context to what they are actually there to speak. I have a question, why wasn't the RNC chair invited?

Just read and ponder...

One of America's Founding Founders, Alexander Hamilton, wrote in the Federalist Papers; "It will be the office of the President to nominate, and, with the advice and consent of the Senate, to appoint. There will, of course, be no exertion of choice on the part of the Senate. They may defeat one choice of the Executive, and oblige him to make another; but they cannot themselves choose, they can only ratify or reject the choice of the President."

Think about this, in-terms of the unprecedented filibuster that is happening in Washington today.

Limbaugh: Harry Reid Family Cashing In

When it comes to cashing in on family connections, House Majority Leader Tom DeLay's relatives can't hold a candle to the clan of Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid. One report put it this way: "So pervasive are the ties among Reid, members of his family and Nevada's leading industries and institutions that it's difficult to find a significant field in which such a relationship does not exist."

Robin Hood and the Robber Congress By Edward Hudgins

By Edward Hudgins
Washington Director
The Objectivist Center
ehudgins@objectivistcenter.org

On April 13 the House of Representatives voted to permanently repeal the Estate Tax, More accurately described as the Death Tax, it is a special levy on the estates of prosperous individuals after they die. Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) said that the repeal “is Robin Hood in reverse. We’re taking money from the middle class and giving it to the super-rich.” Pelosi manifests the soul of a true robber, a lawless hood who has no moral compunctions about stealing.

To begin with, Pelosi’s statement assumes, as most leftists do, that wealth is something not created by individuals who deserve to retain the fruits of their efforts but, rather, something that is stolen by one group from another. She assumes that the “super-rich” stole their money from the middle class. Of course, to be consistent she must also believe that the middle class stole its wealth from the poor and that the poor are poor not because they are not as productive as the more prosperous but because they were the victims of thieves.

This, of course, is nonsense. Bill Gates, for example, did not steal all that software from folks in inner city tenements or rural shakes; rather he and his colleagues created it and an entire new industry, giving even poorer Americans access to products that they could not create themselves.

Pelosi assumes that one class is entitled to the wealth of another and that by not imposing a special tax on the most prosperous when they die, that another class is being robbed. Again, sheer nonsense! Here the hatred of people like Pelosi for the best in society, the most productive, begins to show through.

Pelosi assumes that political elites like herself have the right to use government force to “take from the rich and give to the poor” and since it is the government doing the taking, these transactions are truly at gunpoint. By contrast, in a free, peaceful society, individuals create and voluntary exchange goods and services with one another; the most productive become the wealthiest and the least productive benefit from the efforts of those super-producers.

Pelosi’s analogy isn’t all that wrong, but not for the reasons she thinks. In Ayn Rand’s novel “Atlas Shrugged,” one character, Ragnar Danneskjold, was a modern-day pirate who seized government ships carrying foreign aid that was stolen from taxpayers in order to return it to its rightful owners. Danneskjold said his goal was to erase the memory of Robin Hood. He said, “I’m the man who robs from the poor and gives to the rich – or, to be exact, the man who robs the thieving poor and gives back to the productive rich.”

Pelosi and her ilk practice a pure version of the immorality of envy, hatred of the good for being the good. They fan the flames of resent among poorer Americans against the prosperous and offer guilt to the prosperous so that they will acquiesce as they are being robbed.

But Rep. Kenny Hulshof (R-MO) was correct to say that “The death of a family member should not be a taxable event.” When prosperous individuals pass away, grieving families should not need to worry about selling off the family business, farm or estate in order to satisfy the envy of the Pelosis of the world. Rather, they should be allowed to salute the memory of the deceased who left them, his or her loved ones, with a bounty earned through productive efforts.

With the Death Tax the Pelosis of the world are like ghouls who feed on the bodies of the dead. Only when Americans become truly disgusted at the immorality of such politicians will government again become the protector rather than destroyer of wealth.

Tax Freedom Day

Tomorrow, as Americans pay their taxes, millions are benefiting from the much needed tax relief that was championed by President Bush and Republicans in Congress.  Because of the tax relief, Tax Freedom Day, the day when Americans finally have earned enough money to pay off their total tax bill for the year, is today ? 18 days earlier than it was in 2000 when Bill Clinton was President.  Thanks to President Bush and Republicans in Congress, while many Americans prepare to file taxes tomorrow, we can celebrate Tax Freedom Day today because we are keeping more of our own money.

But that could change if liberal Democrats regain control of Congress in the 2006 mid-term elections and roll back President Bush's tax relief measures. With some of these tax cuts set to expire in a few years, we cannot allow the Democrats to run out the clock and raise taxes on every taxpayer!

Time to Put the Death Tax to Rest

Benjamin Franklin once wrote that nothing "can be said to be certain, except death and taxes." In 1916, an enterprising politician decided to combine the two certainties into a tax on inheritors of a dead person's estate. This "death tax" has to be paid even though the deceased person paid taxes while alive on his assets. The death tax was originally created to help pay the costs of World War I, a conflict that ended in 1918. Today, a family-owned business can lose up to 55 percent of its assets when it passes from one generation to the next. Because of this tax, according to deathtax.com, 70 percent of families choose to cash out or abandon their business after just one generation.

This week, Congress is making its annual attempt to permanently kill the death tax. Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) is planning to offer a deceptive amendment that would help very few, if any, businesses and ultimately gut the effort to completely eliminate the death tax. True tax reform, including eliminating the death tax, involves helping taxpayers - not creating more work for tax accountants. Please tell your senator to reject Sen. Schumer's hollow "compromise" and make sure the death tax expires.

The Unprecedented Filibuster on Judges

This Thursday the Senate Judiciary Committee will hold hearings on a number of President Bush's judicial nominees, many of whom the Democrats have promised to filibuster. While the filibuster has been a valuable tool throughout the history of the Senate on legislative matters, it is unprecedented that it be used against the President's constitutionally granted power to nominate judges. The Democrats, having lost control of the White House, the House and the Senate, are trying to change the rules for the confirmation of judges. Majority Leader Bill Frist (R-TN) is attempting to restore constitutional order to the Senate. The Democratic Party argues that President Bush is arrogantly grabbing for "absolute power." Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) and Senator Robert Byrd (D-WV) tell everyone that will listen that only they know how to interpret the U.S. Constitution.

Both Senators might want to heed one of America's Founding Founders, Alexander Hamilton, who wrote in the Federalist Papers; "It will be the office of the President to nominate, and, with the advice and consent of the Senate, to appoint. There will, of course, be no exertion of choice on the part of the Senate. They may defeat one choice of the Executive, and oblige him to make another; but they cannot themselves choose, they can only ratify or reject the choice of the President." The extremes to which the minority has gone to in essence rewrite the Constitution demonstrates only too well that what they cannot accomplish at the voting polls is being done for them by activist judges. Their greatest fear is losing this misplaced judicial control.

THANKS, SOLDIERS!

FORT HOOD, Texas (AP) - President Bush visited soldiers at the largest U.S. military base Tuesday, marking the two-year anniversary of the end of Saddam Hussein's regime by saying it will be remembered along with the fall of the Berlin Wall as one of history's greatest moments.

Bush thanked the soldiers at Fort Hood who have recently returned from Iraq or are heading there this fall, but said it isn't time to start bringing U.S. forces home...

Leftist Violence at Butler University

- From the desk of David Horowitz -

Dear Supporter:

The left is upping the ante in the battle for academic fairness with a wave of violence against conservative speakers on college campuses.

On Wednesday evening, April 6, at Butler University I was physically assaulted by a group of leftists as I prepared to speak about the need for academic freedom …

I’m writing to tell you two things:
1. I will not be intimidated by student thugs or radical professors who believe violence will keep us off their campuses;

2. Our National Campaign for Academic Freedom is working! It’s gaining notice and gathering momentum at such a pace, in fact, that leftists are resorting to near-guerilla tactics to silence us!

Before I tell you about the incident at Butler University, let me tell you how important your support has been to this Campaign. Your steadfast commitment to this cause is nothing short of courageous. I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Because it is abundantly clear -- as more and more college and university administrations begin to understand our message and hear our call for them to embrace our Academic Bill of Rights -- the left is absolutely terrified we’re are succeeding.

The assault on me by a group of four leftist students at Butler is testimony to the fact that our National Campaign for Academic Freedom is making sense not only to state legislators and school administrators …

… it is reaching the ears of the students who are quickly realizing what you and I’ve been saying: they’re only getting half of the story, the left’s story.

So today I’m asking you to keep the pressure on the schools, the professors, the administrations, state and local leaders and other who we need to join in us in our fight for genuine academic freedom …

… make a special contribution of $100 or at least $50 right now by clicking on this link and supporting our National Campaign for Academic Freedom. https://www.donationreport.com/init/controller/ProcessEntryCmd?key=O4V7H6X3Z4

Let me tell you what happened on that night in Indianapolis, Indiana. As I stepped to the podium, facing a largely leftwing audience, a group of four students -- juvenile delinquents, really -- rushed the stage and slammed a chocolate cream pie into my face.

Fortunately my glasses weren’t broken. Republican students caught and had arrested three of the students -- including a female who spewed racial epithets at Butler professor Marvin Scott, a good friend of mine and yours in this battle, and the Republican candidate for Senate in last November’s election.

There was nothing comedic about it. This attack was one in an increasing string of violence against conservative speakers. Ann Coulter, William Kristol and Pat Buchanan have suffered similar assaults as well in recent weeks.

Additionally, leftists have started attacking armed services and Homeland Security recruiters at campus job fairs in an effort to silence them, too.

Let me assure you that this type of thuggish behavior is being encouraged by radical faculties that regularly deride conservatives and conservative students, expressing their bilious hatred of President Bush in the classroom that is tacitly condoned by school administrations that tolerate these acts!

This is precisely what you and I are fighting against! These students and their academic consorts are underscoring our point -- and they’ve taken to violence in response to the success of our National Campaign for Academic Freedom!

How do I know we’re gaining momentum? First, there is the growing number of Students for Academic Freedom chapters on campuses across the country -- chapters you’ve helped create by supporting CSPC. There has been a wave of media attention on our campaign; on talk radio shows and in hundreds of newspaper articles appearing across the country; we have grabbed the attention of every single University in the country. Next, there is the increase of calls to CSPC from state leaders wanting to know about our Academic Bill of Rights and how they can apply it to their schools. …

… but most telling, I think, was the heartfelt apology from Butler University President Dr. Bobby Fong I received following the April 6th assault. Dr. Fong told me that contrary to what the mainstream media reports, there is widespread support in the academic community for our Academic Bill of Rights. Our opposition consists mainly of radical ideologues.

So putting this sad spate of violence aside for a moment, Dr. Fong’s words should lift our spirits and power us on. And now, as the public begins to learn more about these assaults, is the time renew our efforts.

Please help me again right now. Make a contribution of $100 or even $200 if possible today to our National Campaign for Academic Freedom. And please know how grateful everyone at the Center is for your commitment.
https://www.donationreport.com/init/controller/ProcessEntryCmd?key=O4V7H6X3Z4

Sincerely,

David Horowitz

P.S. There should be ZERO tolerance for this type of thuggery against campus speakers whether they are Pat Buchanan or Noam Chomsky! But leftists on campuses don’t feel that way, so we must continue to press our case for an Academic Bill of Rights for our colleges and universities from coast to coast. Please know that whatever support you can offer again to our National Campaign for Academic Freedom will be put to immediate use. The Center has set a budget of $3.25 million for this year and a large part of that will be devoted to growing grassroots support for this campaign. Thanks again.
